A Message from our President
On November 7th we held our last board meeting of the year and elected Larry Fritz, class of ’73 as the incoming 2024-25 SJAA President. I have known Larry for over 10 years and have been consistently impressed by his dedication to the SJAA. He has served, often concurrently, in many capacities as a SJAA Vice President, graphics designer for the SJAA newsletter, our Legacy Exhibit historian and the President of the Citrus Heights Historical Society. Larry goes above and beyond to ensure our efforts are completed to the highest standard. He has an unwavering dedication to the SJAA. His exceptional skills and experiences will play a pivotal role in enhancing the continuing success of the SJAA.
Even more exciting is the classes from the 70’s are stepping up to keep this organization going. With a revised infrastructure in place and outstanding volunteers working together, the SJAA will continue to meet its future goals for scholarships and support of SJHS and its students. We are looking for more volunteers, so please come out and join us.
Please note we have a special end-of-the year donation request
to help support the SJAA to meet its’ ongoing financial obligations:
Over the years, we have shared many touching stories about our students, their lives and the opportunities our scholarships have provided. This year is no different. The gratitude expressed by each of these new Spartan alumni is so rewarding. These are great young people who just need your help to pave the way for a better future. We do not do this alone. We rely on the generous support of our alumni, student families and businesses within the Citrus Heights community to help fund our work. This is a season of giving and we know you have many opportunities to support many worthwhile causes. We would be most grateful if you would consider a donation this year to the San Juan Alumni Association in support of what we do to award scholarships.
Thank you so much for your consideration of our request.
Your support makes a big difference! We hope to hear from you soon.
Dee (Worthington) Peacock, ’64

The 2023 All-Class Picnic Was Great!
San Juan Alumni & Faculty
past & present all came together to celebrate!
We had a lot of happy people show up to have fun visiting with other alumni … listening to the high school band, eating a good lunch from the Boosters Club, deserts too! The giveaways were very popular, the car show was nice to see and Jerry Still even got his car fixed-up / started-up and showed it off too!

Important Treasurer’s Report – December 2022
Dick Cowan, ‘64 email@example.com (916) 217-4386
Like most non-profit organizations, SJAA is struggling with the rising costs of our operations and most significantly the printing, mailing etc. of the hard copy newsletters. Other expenses include keeping up the Legacy Exhibit and database, the All-Class picnic, representing the Association at Citrus Heights and SJHS events – all have increased our expenses. The bright picture comes from our named scholarship donors, who put up their own money to support the scholarship program. Thanks to those larger donations, the number of scholarships we are able to award is admirable!
100% of monies requested for campaigns go directly to the campaign, which supports SJHS and its students. We are a volunteer based organization and our volunteers do not even ask to be reimbursed for the monies spent for the projects they are working on. They love SJHS and want to help in any way!
Therefore, the Board is taking two actions. First as of January 1, 2023 dues will increase to $20 annually. Don’t worry if you have paid in advance for future years or pay before December 31, 2020. Second, we are asking that members include a little extra (checking the box of) ”Where the Need is Greatest”, this allows us to use the dollars towards keeping the Association going.
