2026 Cadet Corps Reunion

The 21st annual Cadet Corps Reunion was held July 18-20 at the San Juan District’s Camp Winthers, on the shore of Cascade Lake, near Soda Springs, CA. It lasted two days, beginning at 2 PM Friday. Participants included former cadets from San Juan, La Sierra and El Camino High Schools and their extended families. They ranged in age from 3 (grandchild) to 82, with the 82-year-old, a first-time attendee, traveling from his home in Montana.

The weather was gorgeous, with daytime temperatures in the 70s, going down to the upper 40s at night. The lake was full, great for canoeing and kayaking. Activities included hiking, water activities, games, stargazing and visiting. Participants were all accommodated in rustic cabins and eminently edible meals were served by the camp staff. Camp Winthers is a gem!

We plan to gather again at Winthers in 2026 on July 17-19. If you were a cadet or are related to a former cadet, you are invited! You can take a journey into the past, joining some of your former classmates in this beautiful (and cool) forest/lake setting. The non-discounted rate that the SJUSD charges us for meals and facility use is $160 for adults; less for children under 12. If you are a former SJUSD cadet, who has never attended one of our reunions, a few $80 camperships are available.
