Betty J. Leonard Bentzen
10/1/1929-11/23/2018
Preceded in death by her husband Axel and son Michael, survived by daughters Marsha Pagliaro Thompson ’73 and Suzanne Bentzen ’89, Betty was one of the longest residing residents of Citrus Heights. She was also a long-standing member of San Juan Alumni Association. Her passion was to comfort others in times of sorrow through letters and cards in her role as the “Sunshine” Secretary.
Betty was one of the sweetest, kindest people you would ever meet, but she was not afraid to give her opinion to convert others to her way of thinking. We all enjoyed hearing Betty’s stories while giving her rides to where ever she needed to go. Betty was quite stylish in dress and so much fun to be around.
Betty was born into the Leonard family, who were founding members of the Friends Church, the first church in Citrus Heights. She lived on Leonard Drive for many years and had fond memories of spending time at the original Leonard home that was located across the street from San Juan High School. In later years, Betty was an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Citrus Heights.
You are in our thoughts every day Betty. We miss you and want you to know that you were the “Sunshine” in our organization. Thank you for all that you gave to each of us.
