Important Treasurer’s Report – December 2022

Dick Cowan, ‘64 dcowan@cowancs.com (916) 217-4386

Like most non-profit organizations, SJAA is struggling with the rising costs of our operations and most significantly the printing, mailing etc. of the hard copy newsletters. Other expenses include keeping up the Legacy Exhibit and database, the All-Class picnic, representing the Association at Citrus Heights and SJHS events – all have increased our expenses. The bright picture comes from our named scholarship donors, who put up their own money to support the scholarship program. Thanks to those larger donations, the number of scholarships we are able to award is admirable!

100% of monies requested for campaigns go directly to the campaign, which supports SJHS and its students. We are a volunteer based organization and our volunteers do not even ask to be reimbursed for the monies spent for the projects they are working on. They love SJHS and want to help in any way!

Therefore, the Board is taking two actions. First as of January 1, 2023 dues will increase to $20 annually. Don’t worry if you have paid in advance for future years or pay before December 31, 2020. Second, we are asking that members include a little extra (checking the box of) ”Where the Need is Greatest”, this allows us to use the dollars towards keeping the Association going.
